It was wonderful to have our first assembly of the year last week, hosted by Room 15. The musical items we saw were well-rehearsed and entertaining. It’s not easy to get up and perform in front of the whole school, so well done to all of Room 15. You did a fantastic job! We also awarded the first of our brand new Honour Certificates. The new design incorporates our updated logo and our RISE logo and they look great.
This has been a busy two weeks again. Our swimming carnival was held last Friday, and I am once again impressed by our students’ sportsmanship and participation. Well done to our winning house, Michaelmas. The interschool carnival will be held on Tuesday 23 March.
NAPLAN
Our Year 3 and 5 students took home an information brochure for parents last week. NAPLAN testing is scheduled for Weeks 4 and 5 next term. This testing provides us with essential information on how our students are learning, and how we are doing as a school. As a school, we encourage students to do their best and show us what they know, but keep the perspective that NAPLAN is just a series of tests and not to become anxious or worried about them.
Lapathon
Lapathon is nearly here! We hope you have been out asking for sponsors and getting your consent forms in to school. We are keeping our fingers crossed for lovely weather and just enough wind to let the coloured powder turn us into rainbows!
Paint Storm Incursion
I am thrilled that we will be able to have our “Paint Storm” incursion, led by artist Phil Doncon, on Tuesday 30 March. We had to cancel this last year due to COVID- 19 restrictions in place. This event is funded by our P&C, and I thank them for their support. Phil’s show includes learning about emotions, resilience and well-being, as he paints a giant canvas whilst breakdancing and storytelling. We can’t wait to see the show!
Have a super weekend. We are in for some stunning Albany days, so I hope you can make the most of them.
