What a wet and blustery week we have been having! Super for playing and jumping in puddles, but not so great if, like me, you have a puppy who creates muddy paw prints all over the house! I am sure you are all
trying to keep warm and dry, as we are.
Late last term we were excited to host a visit from the Honourable Sue Ellery, MLC, Minister for Education and Rebecca Stephens, MLA, Member for Albany. Our You Move student team, Mr Carron and Mrs Andrea Smithson showed them our fantastic mountain bike track and talked about the great achievements we are making in active transport.
We are being advised to anticipate another wave of Covid infections across the community, with the peak expected to hit around mid-term. At school level, we have already experienced a few cases of students with their second Covid infection.
We continue to heed the directions from the Department of Education. The main message to all people is that mask wearing is strongly encouraged in indoor environments.
The school will be receiving another delivery of 20 free RATS per student in the coming weeks. These will most likely be nasal tests, with possibly some saliva tests in Early Childhood. More to come when I have further information.
We will be celebrating Book Week in Week 6 of this term; 22-26 August. We will have activities throughout the week and a dress-up day on Friday 26th. Keep your fingers crossed for fine weather for our parade!
We warmly invite parents and caregivers into classrooms on Wednesday 7 September, from 2-4pm. You will be able to view your child’s work, see what has been going on in the classroom and chat to the teacher. Students will be in their rooms to assist you from 2-3pm.
Our term is looking very busy, with lots of events coming up. Be sure to read you Connect notices and keep in the loop with all things APS!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Ms Cathy Willis
