Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What an exciting fortnight we have had! These events remind us how lucky we are a part of such a supportive and enthusiastic school community.
Harmony Day Picnic Lunch
Thank you for supporting Harmony Day. The students look very vibrant in their sea of orange.
Due to the weather we all got to enjoy the picnic in the Undercover Area, what a wonderful experience to participate with the whole school.
Blueback Puppet Theatre
The Spare Parts Puppet Theatre present the play ‘blueback’ by Tim Winton last Friday and it was spectacular! Thegenerosity of our P & C ensures all students were able to attend the show at a cost of approximately $2500.
Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all students who participated in the Inter House Swimming Carnival. An extra round of applause to the student/s who were recognised as the Champion and Runner Up Champion for their year/age group.
Thank you to all of the APS staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make the carnival run without a hitch.
Thank you to parents and community members who volunteered to help run the swimming carnival. These events always run smoothly with additional help. This year the Albany Schools Network is trialling a split in the Interschool Carnival. 4 schools will compete in A division and 4 schools on B division. Based on 2018 results APS is in A division competing against Mt Lockyer, Little Grove and Denmark PS.
School Photos
The Albany Primary School website is all ready to take orders and direct you to the School Pic site. You should have received your School Photo Order Envelope with instructions. Each child will receive their own envelope and will be required to be completed and handed to the Photographer even if you are not purchasing photos on the day. Please do not send your completed envelope to school before then. If you require further assistance please do not hesitate to contact the School on 9842 7400.
School Board Votes
A huge thank you to the 5 parents who nominated for the School Board. Voting has now closed after a final successful polling station collection this morning. We look forward to counting the votes and presenting our new School Board Members in the next newsletter. Nominees will be notified early next week of the results.
Your Move – Gold Accreditation
As part of our school’s participation in Your Move, at the end of every year we find out what accreditation level wehave achieved. The more wonderful activities that we run in the school to promote active transport, the higher the level we get. We’ve just heard that last year we achieved gold accreditation – which is fantastic recognition for ourschool. We’ll be adding a shiny new gold sticker to the Your Move sign near the bike racks very soon. Let’s keep up thegreat work and see how far we can get in 2019.
Regards
Mrs Jayde Hewson
